Erin and Adam

Erin and Adam are getting married over Labor Day weekend at the Biltmore Estate.  Their wedding ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the Biltmore House, with a reception following on the South Terrace.  Adam works for a non-profit in Charlotte, NC called 24 Hours of Booty.  This organization is the only 24-hour road cycling event in the country and rasies money to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation as well as other local cancer charities.  Erin is a Senior Executive Assistant for Wachovia Retirement Services and is a realtor with Platinum Properties in Cornelius, NC.  Read more about this gorgeous couple below…

How did you meet?

We met at Elon University as freshman.  We both lived on the Service Learning Community floor.  The SLC was comprised of about 40 other freshman who had come to campus about 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the campus.  Throughout the year our floor did service projects together, had classes together and played intramurals together. We became close as a floor during our first year on campus – from our year on the floor we’ve actually had four other couples get married – we’ll make the 5th! We remained good friends during our four years at Elon and then after we graduated.

How long did you date before you got engaged?

We dated for a little more than two and a half years before we got engaged.

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?

We got engaged in August of 2008.  Adam proposed to me in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Park near one of the cities oldest windmills.  We put together a rundown of the entire proposal on Adam’s blog:  http://adamlentz.blogspot.com/2008/08/were-engaged.html

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?

We enjoy spending time together outside.  We both enjoy running and hiking.  We are both looking forward for some great trips up to the mountains this fall.

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?

We are very excited to be sharing our wedding day with our friends and family. We have been building to this moment for over a year and the moment is finally here. We are looking forward to the wonderful celebration that is to follow our marriage and share in the joy with the people that care about us. It’s going to be an amazing moment when we exchange our vows and we’re both able to slip the rings on each other’s fingers. We cannot wait for this weekend!

What do you love the most about each other?

Erin: What I love about Adam is… Adam is one of the most caring people I have ever met with the biggest heart. He spends his time working to help people and I love that about him. Adam is always up for anything which is great because I don’t like to sit still for too long and he makes me laugh all the time. The best thing about him is he makes me feel safe and I can’t help but smile when I see him. He loves me for me and he is kind to everyone and always willing to help with anything and everyone. Adam is the most kind hearted man and I am very lucky to have found him.

Adam:  What I love about Erin is… she is one of the most amazing people I know. She is full of more strength and courage than most anyone I know. But beyond that she’s so caring and passionate towards other people and is always striving to be the best person she can be. I don’t know anyone else who lives by the Golden Rule more so than Erin. I love Erin’s personality and sense of humor – she’s always up for a good time and strives to find the good in all things. She’s also very easy on the eyes.

Natalie and Jeff

Natalie and Jeff both live in New York, and they are heading to Natalie’s hometown of Asheville to be married.  Natalie and Jeff dated for four and a half years before getting engaged, so they are definitely ready to tie the knot on August 22nd.  They are treated their guests to a rehearsal dinner at the Riverbend Barn on the Biltmore Estate before having a gorgeous wedding at the famous and historical Grove Park Inn.  Should be an amazing weekend for all!  Read more about this precious couple…

How did you meet each other?

We actually met at a bar in New York City.  We were there at separate friend’s birthday parties.  Most of the time when we tell people this we get a funny reaction.  But, we found out later it is a tradition in our families…Natalie’s parents met at a bar and so did Jeff’s parents!

engagement-photoWhen did you get engaged and how did he ask?

We were engaged in April 2008, a day after Natalie’s birthday.  We had planned a trip to New Orleans for Jazz Fest.  Once we arrived, Jeff proposed the minute we walked into the hotel room because he was so nervous.  But, then he had a whole day planned, including a traditional New Orleans lunch and then concerts at Jazz Fest.

What do you two do for a living?

Natalie is currently a M.B.A. student at New York University.

Jeff recently left the ‘finance world’ to teach accounting at a local college in New York City and pursue his own business venture.

What are some of the activities you like to do as a couple?

We love running, playing tennis, traveling, discovering new Mexican restaurants in New York and cuddling with our cat, Nepal.

Why did you choose Grove Park Inn as your wedding location?

Natalie grew up outside of Asheville and wanted to share the beautiful Asheville mountain views with all of our wedding guests.  And, what better place to see the beautiful scenery than Grove Park Inn’s Mountain View Terrace!img_1169

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?

We are most excited about having all of our families and closest friends together to celebrate for one night.

How would you describe the style of your wedding?

Somewhat modern and contemporary-we both like simple, but modern looks.

What do you love about each other?

Jeff:  What I love about Natalie is…aside from her natural beauty, I love Natalie’s inner soul-her compassion for others (family, friends and our cat!) and the little things she does to turn even the worst days into comfort.  I love that she seeks adventure and pushes us to do new things together.  I love that she is more organized than I am, and will one day have our kitchen and closets on the Dewey Decimal System!  Natalie is my best friend, is always supportive, and is my bedrock.

Natalie:  What I love about Jeff is…I love that Jeff is the most thoughtful and caring person I know.  He is always there for his family and friends; everyone knows they can count on him for anything.  And, he always knows how to make anyone feel special, especially me.  He makes everything fun and can always find the best in any situation.  And I am constantly in awe of his heart and determination.  Jeff is definitely my best friend and soul mate.

Alison and Jeff

first-dance-ii

Alison and Jeff were married in Asheville at the romantic Homewood.  They were married on June 20th in an outdoor ceremony down in a glen covered in a canopy of trees.  It was a beautiful day.  I loved every aspect of their wedding, and I can’t wait to share their photos with you.  For now, I want you to get to know this now husband and wife!  :)

How did you meet each other?
We met at work on a Sunday in December 2005.  It was Jeff’s first day working at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  A group of us were called in to prepare a brief for Congress.  After a couple of months of working on the same floor and burning the midnight oil, we finally fell subject to a colleague’s ploy to get us together.

How long did you date before you got engaged?
About two and a half years.

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
Jeff is a UNC alum and Alison quickly adopted Tar Heel fever.  We arrived in Chapel Hill late one evening in September 2008 and went straight to Jeff’s swimming alumni reception.  The next morning, we ate a yummy brunch, toured campus, and went to our first Tar Heel football game together, where unfortunately the Heels lost.  Afterward, as we headed to dinner, Jeff nonchalantly steered us through the arboretum where he popped the question!  It was a beautiful, late afternoon setting and we sat on a park bench for a while smiling ear to ear.

What do you two do for a living?
Recently, Jeff spent over three years at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and at the end of January 2009 he started a new job at Alston + Bird LLP.  Alison has spent over four and a half years at TSA in various roles — now serving in the Office of Global Strategies.  Prior to this, she worked at CNN and the National Security Council.

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
We enjoy swimming and hiking together and visiting our families in NC.  We love to travel – a highlight being our trip to Africa in 2007 when we hiked Kilimanjaro and went on a safari.  We also like to cheer on the Tar Heels football and basketball teams and play with our puppy dog, Max.

Why did you choose Asheville as your wedding location?
We both spent time growing up in parts of North Carolina and wish to move there one day in the future.  Alison’s parents live in Hendersonville, so we had a nice place to stay while we were planning the wedding in Asheville.  Plus, Asheville was a great place for a destination wedding – with convenient airport for our guests and known as a place many people always want to visit.

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
Having all of our friends and families in one place!

uhuru-081907

What do you love about each other?
Jeff:  What I love about Alison is…her amazing kindness, ability to make me laugh and unconditional love.

Alison:  What I love about Jeff is…his big heart, tender kindness, intellectual curiosity, and sense of humor.

Anything else you would want people to know?
Tara is amazing!  Very calming, attentive to details, and straightforward.

Kathleen and Brian to be married in July

b-and-k

Kathleen and Brian will be married in July at the Cliffs Glassy Chapel in July.  Their reception is taking place in downtown Greenville at the Wyche Pavilion.  Downtown Greenville is such an incredible place with so many great restaurants, art galleries, and shopping.  They wanted their guests to stay right in the heart of downtown to enjoy all it’s aspects.  The rehearsal dinner at the Lazy Goat and the Wyche Pavilion are both within walking distance to the hotels.  It should be an amazing weekend for all!  Brian and Kathleen now live in Atlanta, and Brian is Brand Planner for Fitzgerald and Co, and Kathleen is in Human Resources for GE.  Read below for more about Kathleen and Brian (their engagement story is the best!).  I am so looking forward to their wedding!

How did you meet each other?

We were both working at the same Advertising agency in Manhattan, on completely different accounts, in completely different departments, but on the same floor.  Brian happened to have an office by the printer.  Printer = opportunity.  Emails print.  Presentations print.  Recipes for dinner that you knew you’d never end up cooking print!  So Kathleen went through a non-green streak and just kept printing and printing and stopping by Brian’s office to say hello.  Fast forward to the beautiful combination of a winter storm, a NYC transit strike, and a cancelled office get-together where a handful of co-workers ended up at a downtown lounge despite the weather — we ended up talking the night away.  Three and a half years later, here we are.

How long did you date before you got engaged?

2 years, 6 months, and 1 day…but who’s counting?

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?

From Kathleen’s Point of View:
We were in Savannah for a little weekend getaway, and we were staying at a beautiful bed and breakfast.  We went out to dinner on Friday night, which happened to be our 2.5 year anniversary.  We started talking about whether 2.5 years was long or short…. and I was saying it’s LONG it’s LOOOONG!  (subtext: I’m ready to get engaged!).  And he was saying it felt short… that no time had gone by, that I was in school, that we were long distance forever, etc.  By the end of that conversation, I was convinced I had at least another year before we got engaged.  Sneaky devil.

The next morning, we went to Tybee beach (right outside of Savannah), because I was CRAVING some beach time.  I hadn’t seen the beach forever, and I was so incredibly excited to go…there are very few places on earth that make me as happy as the beach does.  After we parked, Brian told me he had a surprise and pulled out all the ingredients for a lovely little picnic.  I didn’t think anything of it, just thought it was a nice surprise.  The exact words in my brain were: “This would be a great way to start off a day where I got engaged, too bad it’s not happening FOREVER.”  (women are evil!)  Anywho, so we’re having our lovely picnic on the beach, when Brian says, “Remember last night, when I told you I thought 2.5 years was short?  Well, it’s short compared to the amount of time I WANT to spend with you.”  All of a sudden, he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand.  He asked me to marry him!  I was totally flabbergasted!  I kept asking him if he was kidding and if this was real… so much so that I never said yes.  He had to clarify about 2 minutes into the nonsense I was blabbering… he said, “so, can I have an answer?”  and I said, “Yes!  WAIT!  Did you ask my Dad???” he said yes to that, and then I said, “well okay then.”  (I have a way with words).

We spent the rest of the day wandering around Savannah and had a very romantic dinner and evening.  We were so giddy we even told the taxi driver that we got engaged.  He told us we should have grandkids first, that they are more fun.  haha!

From Brian’s Point of View:

For the Groom-to-be, the engagement story always starts way before the actual engagement…weeks, if not months before the “he got down on one knee,” and well before the “so, would you prefer a summer wedding, because I’d really like a summer wedding.”  While the engagement itself is the first moment shared between the newly engaged couple, the engagement story is a series of events orchestrated by and more completely told by (in my opinion) the Groom.  So here it goes.

The facts are seldom achieved by asking a simple question.
Kathleen has never been one to wear jewelry.  A champion-chip transponder for triathlons and marathons…yes.  Jewelry…not really.  Put a Super Runner’s Shop and a Harry Winston store side by side, and odds are you’ll find Kathleen in the Super Runner’s Shop with her arms burdened with clothing she’ll buy today, and a significant amount more on hold for future purchase.  That’s just how she’s programmed.  So getting facts like cut, clarity, color, carat, and ring size out of her without her becoming suspicious was a Herculean task.  Luckily I stumbled upon a printout of various passwords, NYC restaurants to try, books to read, and the words “round brilliant.”

Women ask the most questions when you’re up to something.

Many of my weekends leading up to the engagement were spent under the pretense that I was “heading to Starbucks to read the newspaper,” when in fact I’d be visiting jewelry store after jewelry store trying to find the perfect ring.  When I got back home, I quickly discovered that Kathleen had clearly spent her downtime taking online Private Investigation courses.   “You’ve been at Starbucks this entire time?”  “So what were the headlines in the paper?”  “Seems like a long time to spend doing not very much.”

The hardest part of the engagement actually happens before the engagement.
I knew an engagement (to Kathleen) wouldn’t be engagement if I didn’t ask her parents and her sister before actually asking Kathleen to marry me.  So I invented a lie.  I was on a business flight back to Atlanta that arrived (on schedule) at 5pm.  However, I told Kathleen that the flight was delayed.  In that time, I drove to the office, hung out for 3 hours, called her parents and (whilst sweating and shaking) asked for their blessing.  They happily gave it.  I wiped the sweat from my forehead with my sleeve and grinned from ear to ear as I drove home.  (I asked for her sister’s blessing [and advice on how to broach the subject with their parents] a few days before).

The best-laid plans do oft’ times go astray.

I planned to ask Kathleen to marry me on June 20th 2008; a Friday; exactly 2.5 years from the day we started dating.  I pushed and pushed for her to take the day off of work, or at least leave early, so that we could arrive in Savannah by midday for a romantic picnic in the park.  Unfortunately, the earliest she could leave work was at 1pm.  Not enough time to get to Savannah and propose that night.  Instead, we had a simple evening out, and I’d save the proposal for the following day.  Kathleen has already filled you in on the conversation that took place that night.  It was a slippery slope…trying to throw her off the scent, without making her disheartened at the thought of an engagement not happening in the foreseeable future.

Sometimes strangers make the best allies.
Today was the day.  Overcast and threatening to rain, but with a 2-hour window of sunshine.  Kathleen loves the beach…LOVES the beach.  So I decided to pack a beach picnic and drive to Tybee.  The staff at the B&B were in on the plan. “Sir, you have the food, the wine, and the ring.  Let us help you sneak the picnic items into your car when she’s not looking, along with a couple beach chairs to make things perfect.”  They’re sneaky in Savannah…I like that.

“Yes” doesn’t come as quickly as it does in the movies.

Wine, Brie, pistachios, olive tapanade, red pepper jelly, ring in hand, on bended knee…sand digging into knee…awaiting a response to “2.5 is short compared to the amount of time I want to spend with you.  I want to spend the rest of my life with you Kathleen…will you marry me?”

“Wait…is this really happening?!”…I’m on bended knee.
“Now?…are you really asking NOW?!”…sand is digging into my knee.
“Seriously?…but only yesterday you were saying…”…um, yesterday didn’t turn out as planned.
“Did you ask my parents?”…of course.
“My sister?…does my sister know?”…she was in on this whole thing.
“Oh my God, it’s so beautiful.”…really?, can I get a yes, please?
Me – “um…I don’t entirely think you gave me an actual answer yet.”

If you’re reading this, I think you know what the answer was.
I smiled the entire drive back to the B&B as Kathleen phoned family and friends.

Still smiling.

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?

Relaxing, running, skiing, traveling…and sleeping in.

Why did you choose the Greenville area as your wedding location?

My (Kathleen’s) parents are retiring on Glassy mountain in a few years.  We have been coming to the mountain for about 5 years, since my parents bought their home there.  The first time I stepped into the Glassy Chapel, I knew that was where I wanted to get married– it’s just so beautiful, and it “feels” like Brian and me – very natural, light and airy.

With all of Greenville’s charm and southern hospitality, it proved to be the most idyllic setting for our reception.  Greenville’s Reedy River and waterfall were the perfect contrast to our mountaintop ceremony and cocktail hour.  And with Greenville’s running paths, quaint shops, and neighborhood pubs, it offered something for every one of our guests.

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?

Kathleen – marrying Brian ☺

Brian – standing at the altar, being in the moment as the doors to the chapel inch open, watching Kathleen and her father take their first steps down the aisle.  And from that point…eternity.

What do you love about each other?

Brian:  What I love about Kathleen is…her ability to put herself in other people’s shoes, her unwavering determination, her independence, and her ability to laugh at herself…and at me…a lot.

Kathleen:  What I love about Brian is…his warmth, his intelligence and creativity, how much we laugh together, and that we can enjoy spending time together – even if we’re just doing the dishes.

Meg and Ross

How did you meet each other?

It was a beautiful September 2001 night in Florida and I was visiting my place of work, Dave’s Last Resort and Raw Bar in Lake Worth Florida. Ross and I had met before when he would come in with his friends for lunch or dinner but this time was different. We sat and talked for a long time and at the end of the evening he went to hold my hand. The night ended with us talking more in the pouring rain and we didn’t even care that we were soaked. The rest is history.

How long did you date before you got engaged?

We dated almost two years before we got engaged.

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?

It was July 28, 2003 and I was so overwhelmed with nursing school that Ross told me he wanted to cook me a romantic dinner at home. I was so happy because I had so much homework to complete and a nice dinner sounded really wonderful. Candles were flickering and the pork tenderloin came out perfect. After dinner, he proceeded to tell me how much he loved me and he got on one knee and proposed. He said, “ Will you spend the rest of your life with me , Meggie.” Meggie is his nickname for me. Through the happy tears, I said. “Yes!” Needless to say , I didn’t get any homework done that night! Ha!

img104

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?

We love to go hiking because nature is so amazing. We sometimes love just relaxing in the backyard listening to the birds in the woods with some coffee. We love exploring new towns since Asheville is a new place of living for us. We’ve been in North Carolina for 1 year and 8 months. We are always up to go see a new movie. Most of the time we just love to be at home with our animals and cooking homemade meals.

Why did you choose Claxton Farm as your wedding location?

We chose to get married at Claxton Farm because it represents our new home. Claxton Farm reminds Ross of his late grandparents farm. As a child, he spent a lot of summers at the farm. It just gives you the “feel” of North Carolina. The nature, mountains, and animals really captured our hearts.

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?

After being together for almost eight years, we are just so excited to make a further commitment with each other and God -in front of all our family and friends. As our close family and friends know, we have been through a lot of changes throughout the years and we have been waiting for this moment for a long time. We wrote our own vows together and we can’t wait to look each other in the eyes and say them.
What do you love about each other?

Ross:  What I love about Meg is…her smile and laugh. She lets me be “me” and accepts it.  She has a big heart and is so loving to everyone she meets. I feel lucky to be marrying my soul mate and I can’t imagine life without her.

Meg:  What I love about Ross is…his unconditional love for me and his warm heart. He makes me smile and he makes me feel special every day. When he hugs me, I feel safe. He is my soul mate and best friend and I can’t wait to marry him.

img105

Anything else you would want people to know?

We wanted to thank our families for all their support and love throughout the years. Both families have been so loving and accepting to both of us since the day we met.
We want to thank all of our close friends for being so wonderful to both of us. You all mean the world to us.
We thank God that our families and friends mold so well together and can be together on our special day.
Ross and I are looking so forward to our wedding day. We are also looking forward to starting our own family soon. Yeah!     Love Meg and Ross

I wanted to thank Ross for being so supportive through this wedding planning process. It has been very emotional for me since my mom passed away and not having her here for these special milestones. I have peace that God is taking good care of her and she will be there in spirit.  Love Meg

Cheryl and Ron

sendtoterra2

Cheryl and Ron are getting married in the Butterfly Gardens at the Biltmore Estate on June 26th, with a reception following at the Conservatory. Cheryl and Ron dated for four years before they got engaged on April 18, 2008.  They are ready to get married and excited about sharing this special moment with their closest family and friends!  Continue reading to find out more about this couple…

How did you meet each other?
Ron accidentally sent a misdirected email to the wrong Cheryl – me!  Instead of letting it go, I responded & asked him if he was the Ron Raugh that was friends with my buddy Jan and her husband (his former co-worker) Shane.  He was, and we started bantering via email about how there was snow on the ground where we were – Philly & Raleigh & how we’d both rather be visiting them in Tampa.  Before you know it we were trading phone numbers & pictures via email, then calling each other, and we finally descended upon our mutual friends in Florida (who DIDN’T) set us up.  And the rest, as they say, is history!

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
Our Golden Retriever Cody takes me to the local VA Hospital every Friday night to do therapy dog visits.  On April 18, 2008 we came back from our visit & Ron planned a quiet evening at home building a fire in the chiminea on the back patio.  It was just the two of us, the dog, a bottle of wine & a crackling fire.  He came into the house for something (he’d stashed the ring in a kitchen cabinet by this point).  He went into an eloquent spiel about how he probably should have gotten around to this sooner and I remember thinking – are you going to get to the part where you ask me to marry you?  He did and I said yes!!!!

sendtoterra1

What do you two do for a living?
Cheryl is a project manager for Nortel Networks.  Her job is home based which is what allowed her the flexibility to move from Raleigh to PA to be with Ron.  Ron previous position was Vice-President of Advanced Services for the Central PA region of Comcast.  After spending a few years learning the front line business, Ron elected to move into a more technology based role and is now testing wireless based architectures in order to develop new wireless products for Comcast.

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
Walking our dog together in the evenings to unwind from work.
Working in the yard on the flowerbeds or the garden.
Ron’s favorite pastime is scuba.  Cheryl has become scuba certifies as well.  After all, a hobby that forces you to go to sunny, warm, tropical locations can’t be all bad!

Why did you choose Asheville as your wedding location?
Since Cheryl is from NC we searched potential wedding locations literally from one end of the state to the other – from the Biltmore in the mountains, to several bed & breakfasts around Raleigh, to a few locations at the beach.  Ron had never been to the Biltmore Estate before, however once he saw it everything else paled by comparison.

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
That’s an easy one for Ron to answer – the honeymoon!  And for Cheryl it’s changing her last name so she doesn’t go through life with her ex-husband’s last name anymore!  Ha!  Seriously, we are excited to have all of our family and friends come together for what we hope will be a fun-filled celebration and are excited that the folks that are closest to us can help us share in this joyous experience.

Tell us the things you love about each other…

Cheryl:  What I love about Ron is…his positive attitude and how he instills confidence in others to push you beyond what you truly think that you are capable of yourself.  Who knew that I would ever become scuba certified?  Plus he is the most meticulous and organized male that I’ve ever met.  He makes lists for everyone and everything and is always, always, always knocking items off of the to-do list.  But what I truly love about him is how happy me makes me and how our relationship is truly a collaborative effort.

Ron:  What I love about Cheryl is…she is very supportive and family oriented which was very important considering I have children from a first marriage.  She has put the effort into finding a relationship with each of them.  I had built a
house prior to meeting her and she has helped to turn it into a home.  For once in a very long time I am both happy and content.

Anything else you would want people to know?
We’re so happy together and looking forward to our special day and celebrating with family and close friends!

Janet and Thomas

amh_4354

Janet and Thomas are both attorneys in Asheville, North Carolina, and they will be hitched in June!   Thomas works for the District Attorney’s office and Janet works at Messer Law Firm.  Janet and Thomas have the best personalities, and are truly a great match for each other.  They dated for a full two years before even getting engaged, so they are very ready to get married!  Janet and Thomas will be getting married at LongMeadow Park at The Rambles, followed by a reception at the new Grand Bohemian Hotel.  Should be a spectacular event!  Here is some info on this lovely couple…

How did you meet each other?

We went to the same law school and were “formally” introduced at a friend’s bonfire.
Janet: I knew Thomas was the one the same night we met, when we went to the store to buy things for the bonfire, and he bought me a tiara and flowers and told me that I could be the queen for the evening!  (good move!)
Thomas: I had my eye on Janet since the first time I saw her on campus.  One of the first times I talked to her she called me by my roommate’s name (ouch).  She didn’t make that mistake again!

amh_4133

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?

Thomas and I got engaged the Thursday before I graduated from law school. Thomas surprised me early and came into town.  I was getting ready for a dinner at my professor’s house and thought my friend had come early to pick me up.  I came to the door with one shoe on and curlers in my hair.    When I opened the door Thomas was standing there in a suit and he dropped to his knee and held out the engagement ring.  I don’t even think he got a chance to say anything before I said “YES”!!!!

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?

Both of us are very social people and we enjoy spending our time with friends and family. We are always excited to go to any sporting event, especially University of Tennessee football games; celebrate all the holidays, especially St. Patrick’s day and Halloween; eat a good meal and drink good wine; go to happy hour at Scully’s on Friday afternoon; and travel to anywhere and everywhere!

amh_4441

Why did you choose Asheville as your wedding location?

It’s where we both call home.  Janet has grown up in Asheville and Thomas followed her here.  Who wouldn’t want to have a beautiful wedding in a place like Asheville?!

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?

Janet:  Wearing my Dress and Shoes!
Thomas: The Open Bar!

Seriously, after all of the planning we are ready to say I DO and start our lives together!  There are so many things that we want to do and are even more excited to do them as Husband and Wife.  We want our wedding weekend to be a celebration of everything we love, and we want everyone to leave with some great memories.

What do you love about each other?

Thomas:  What I love about Janet is every time I look at her I want to smile.  She is the most caring, thoughtful and kind person I have ever met.  It also doesn’t hurt that she is drop dead beautiful!

Janet:  What I love about Thomas is that when he hugs me I feel so lucky, peaceful and happy.

Anything else you would want people to know?

How lucky we both feel to have such great families and friends.  The bonds Janet and I have with our close friends are the type that we hope never fade.  They are always there to laugh with, gossip with and “play with.”  To our friends, thank you.

Thomas and I are so thankful to come from such amazing families.  They are both very loving and supportive and know when to challenge and support us.  We have both been accepted into each others families with open arms. We can only hope our relationship is as strong and long lasting as our parents.  We are also thankful for our siblings and feel lucky to have had you all as our best friends and family.  To our families thank you for pushing us, thank you for just being there, and thank you for making us the people we are today!

We are really excited about the wedding and everything else the future holds for us as a couple!

Meredith and Bryan

img_11731Meredith and Bryan were married last weekend at Homewood.  The weather was perfect for Meredith and Bryan to be married outside in the Glen, and this was definitely something they had been praying for!  I loved getting to know this beautiful couple and their families.  So happy that they are now husband and wife!   You can actually see Meredith’s bridal portraits on my blog….gorgeous!

Here is some info about Meredith and Bryan…

How did you meet each other?
We met through my sister Elizabeth, who went to college and is friends with Bryan.

How long did you date before you got engaged?
7 months

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
August 2008 – Bryan took me out west to hang out with his sister Lindsey.  I had always wanted to visit Jackson Hole, WY. We flew in to Montana where Lindsey lives and traveled through Yellowstone all the way out to WY.  Lindsey was in on the surprise and had actually sewn the ring into one of Bryan’s shorts pockets.  We went backcountry camping in the Tetons one of the nights we were out there and Bryan proposed around the campfire. Although I was still developing my affinity towards hiking and camping, it turned out to be a wonderful trip.

Where do you live now?
Greenville, SC

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
We like to just hang out together!  We are learning to enjoy doing outdoor activities together (like hiking) and we love being out on the lake.  We both really like to have friends over – I like to cook while Bryan likes to entertain guests. We also like to do crossword puzzles in our spare time (especially on Sundays).

Why did you choose Asheville as your wedding location?
We wanted someplace different, but not too far away from our respective hometowns. Since Bryan is from TN and I am from SC, we decided to meet in the middle!

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
Spending time with all of our family and friends and being a part of something God designed!

What do you love about one another?

Bryan:
What I love about Meredith is her positive and caring nature.  She has such a wonderful spirit that she is just impossible not to love.

Meredith:  What I love about Bryan is…
He puts his heart in everything that he does. He always loves to be around people, and he truly shares his heart to his family and friends. What you see, is what you get. I couldn’t ask to marry a better person.

Anything else you would want people to know?
Patience with your significant other and those around you is extremely important. Setting an example not only through you words, but with your actions to show love to others is something Bryan and I are constantly learning. Also, live in the moment!

Natalie and Nick

cinque-terra1

Natalie and Nick have been engaged for almost a year, and they are ready to be married.  The good news is, they are actually getting married this coming weekend, May 16th!  They are having their wedding ceremony at the lovely Homewood, in the Glen.  The Glen is special to my heart, because I was married there!  I know it will be beautiful.  After the ceremony, their guests will move to a courtyard in downtown Asheville.  Natalie grew up around this courtyard because her parents own and manage the buildings that surround it.  So, this wedding brings back special memories, not only to her, but to her parents!  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Natalie and her family on this very special event, and I can’t believe it is almost here!  Enjoy this information about Natalie and Nick…eiffel-tower

How did you meet each other?
Nick and I went to school together at University of Tennessee.  We became great friends, but Nick eventually transferred to the University of Florida.  After not seeing or talking to each other for 7 years, we ran into each other at a concert in Charlotte.  We have not been apart since.

When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?

We got engaged on June 12, 2008.  We were traveling through Europe.  Our first stop was in Venice, Italy, and we decided to take a gondola tour.  While we were on the tour, Nick got on one knee and popped the question!  (Isn’t that so romantic?!  Tara)

Where do you live now?
We just bought a house in Charlotte, NC

Why did you choose Asheville as your wedding location?
Asheville is Natalie’s hometown

When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
Professing our love and sharing such a special day with all of our friends and family that we care so much about.

What are the qualities that you love about each other?
Natalie is loving and caring, determined, thoughtful, compassionate, sweet and beautiful.

Nick is loving, romantic, understanding, trusting, loves life, and ambitious.

Anything else you would want people to know?
How much we can’t wait to be married, and how much we are looking forward to sharing our new life together.
