Jackie and Alex

8/13/2012

Jackie and Alex are so lovely! Their wedding was held in July, and what a perfect day it was!  Jackie was so radiant as she walked down the aisle to her groom at the Inn on Biltmore Estate! Loved being a part of their special day. I asked them a few questions before their wedding day was here, just so you could get to know them a little better…enjoy!

How did you meet each other?
We met at a Christmas party that was hosted by a mutual friend. It turned out that Alex worked with a couple of guys that I had been friends with for years but I’d never met him. One of the guys we both knew convinced Alex to go to the party despite the fact that he was not feeling well. He introduced us and he likes to take credit because he has been responsible for setting up a few couples who eventually got married. The friend who hosted the party demands equal credit.
How long have you two been together?
3 ½ years
When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
We were engaged on July 2nd, 2011. Alex took me out to Napa Valley for my birthday present and he asked me at our hotel after the first day of visiting wineries. He had carried the ring around all day but waited until we checked into our hotel to ask me. We got to spend the next couple of days doing nothing but eating cheese and drinking wine so it was perfect.
What do you two do for a living?
I work in Risk Management for Bank of America and he works in Commercial Real Estate for Wells Fargo.

What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?

Neither of us likes to cook but we love to eat good food so we like to go out to nice dinners (too often). We enjoy traveling together and spending time with Alex’s children Will and Mary Ashley. We also spend a lot of time working on our yard and planning home improvements.

Why did you choose the Biltmore Estate as your wedding location?

Alex took me to the Inn for my birthday the first year we were dating and we loved it. We were initially thinking of getting married at the beach but decided against that when we decided July would be the best time for our wedding. We took a trip to Asheville and visited Biltmore again in the fall and we realized the Inn would be the perfect July location.
When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
The wedding is one of those rare occasions when we get to have all our favorite people together at one time for a great party! We are also very excited to see Will and Mary Ashley in their roles as Best Man and Maid of Honor. We expect that our all-kid wedding party will give us some funny stories about our ceremony.

What do you love about each other?
Jackie: What I love about Alex is…
When I met Alex he told me “what you see is what you get”. It’s turned out to be true and I love that about him. He is a very genuine and affectionate person and he is one of the most easy going, happy people that I know. These qualities make him a wonderful father and I know he’ll be a good husband too. He makes me feel loved every day and I know he’ll always be there for me.
Alex: What I love about Jackie is…
Jackie is both beautiful and intelligent. From the beginning Jackie was always a good listener and provided a sensible, down to earth perspective that I really appreciated. She is selfless in her commitment to her friends and family and has shown the same love and thoughtfulness to me since I’ve known her. Jackie told me that she was very nervous when she first met my children because she thought that our relationship would not last if the kids did not like her. She was very insightful then to know that the children are extremely important to me. I was never worried and it is no surprise to me that Jackie and the children have grown to love each other very much. I can’t imagine a more perfect person to spend the rest of my life with. She makes me very happy.

Anything else you would want people to know?

We are very excited to spend this happy time with our family and friends in beautiful Asheville NC!
