Rachel and Jeff

Rachel and Jeff will be getting married this month at the Inn on Biltmore on the Biltmore Estate, and I could not be more happy for them!  What a precious couple.  They have been such a delight to work with, and I can’t wait to see their faces when they first see each other on their wedding day.  Always my favorite moment!  Please read about this special couple below…
How did you meet each other?
Jeff and I met our first month of college in English class.  We had the same group of friends and spent more and more time together as the semester passed and became best friends before Thanksgiving.
How long have you two been together?
We’ve been together for about 2 ½ years. Even though we were best friends all throughout college we didn’t start dating until two weeks before graduation.
When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
We got engaged March 9, 2011.
We were getting ready to leave for one of my good friend’s wedding the next day and I had been not so subtly hinting that I wanted Jeff to propose before the wedding so that I could celebrate with all of my friends. The morning before we left Jeff sat me down and told me that he wasn’t going to propose before we left. As expected, I was disappointed but knew it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he didn’t propose before we left.
Jeff left for work that afternoon and I started to work on a paper for grad school that I had to finish because it was due the day before the wedding. By the time Jeff got home from work that night around 9:30 I was exhausted from staring at my computer screen all night attempting to concentrate on writing my paper. I was still sitting at the desk groaning about how I hadn’t had time to make dinner and trying to decide on where we were going to go to get food while Jeff was rummaging around in the closet. Before I knew it he spun me around in the chair and got down on one knee to propose. It completely caught me off guard since he had made point to tell me it wasn’t going to happen that day. Needless to say I wasn’t able to finish my paper that night and we were up very late trying to pack amidst calling all of our family and friends. It was a perfectly simple and heartfelt proposal that I’ll never forget.
What do you two do for a living?
Rachel is an advertising account executive for Fry Hammond Barr and handles the Moffitt Cancer Center account.
Jeff is a department manager at Office Depot but is hoping to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a sports anchor.
What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
Besides moving (we’ve moved 3 times in 2 years while planning our wedding!), we really enjoy traveling with our families. One of our favorite things about living in Austin was the fact that we could do a new road trip as often as we wanted to and still never see all that Texas had to offer. My personal favorite trip was to Brenham to tour the Bluebell Ice Cream factory. YUM!
Now that we’re in Florida, and have a new member of our family (in March we adopted our Goldendoodle Lilly), we spend a lot of time training and taking her to agility classes. It’s been a new experience for both of us but one that we are having a lot of fun with. Each week Lilly finds a new way to impress us with her springs for legs!

Why did you choose the Biltmore Estate as your wedding location?
Until Jeff and I started dating, I had never even heard of the Biltmore Estate. Once we started talking about getting married this was the first place Jeff mentioned. He had vacationed there many times growing up and knew about my dream of having a fairytale wedding. This seemed like the perfect option for us! Although we did explore other historic houses, there was no way that any of them could beat the experience of getting married at the Biltmore. The fact that they serve amazing food didn’t hurt either.
When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
Rachel: I’m excited to see Jeff’s face when I walk down the aisle. I also can’t wait to see all of our closest family and friends in one place and celebrate together.
Jeff:  I can’t wait to see Rachel in her dress and see her walking down the aisle. I’ve been waiting so long for this day and it’s finally here.
What do you love about each other?
Rachel:  What I love about Jeff is his passion for everything that he does. He is extremely passionate about his dreams of being an anchor (and his sports teams!) and has the ability to love me with that same passion more than I could ever imagine. Above all, he has the ability to make me laugh more than anyone I’ve ever known. I couldn’t imagine marrying anyone more perfect for me than my best friend.
Jeff:  What I love about Rachel is her personality.  She is so loving, caring and completely behind me.  She’s smart, funny, beautiful, and everything I could ever ask for. There’s no doubt in my mind that she is my soul mate.
