Amber & Terris

Amber & Terris are the greatest…simply the greatest.  I was so elated to see them unite in marriage at the Lioncrest, at the Biltmore Estate,  on such a special night like New Year’s Eve!  Most of the time I feature a couple that has not yet had their wedding, but how fun it is nice to share with you a couple that has already had their wedding!  So here you go…get to know them!

How did you meet each other?
We met in college. Terris went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, and I attended Spelman College across the street. We met at a party at a restaurant in Piedmont Park.
How long have you two been together?
We have been together for 7 years.
Tell us about the engagement:
After a long all night drive from Maryland to Georgia, we arrived early in the morning to that unforgettable summer Atlanta heat. The alleged weekend plans were to first go to a networking Alum event at Morehouse, and second go spend time with family for the Independence Day holiday.  As we walked through the campus where we met, all I could think about was the high noon Georgia sun beating down on me until I noticed the pathway of rose petals leading to the historical Danforth Chapel on Campus. Terris, nervous yet well prepared, dropped down on one knee as our song “Sentimental Reasons”, played in the background.  That’s when it happened! Terris asked the most wonderful question “will you do me the honor of marrying me, and being my wife?” And of course, I said YES! Apparently everyone on Earth knew about the planned proposal except for me. It was a successfully executed mission.

What do you two do for a living?
Terris is a Kindergarten Teacher, he is absolutely wonderful with children.
My title is Business Development and Marketing Specialist- I write Federal Government Proposal.
What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
We love to see live music together. Our first real date was a Dave Matthews Concert. We also enjoy traveling and just spending time together.
Why did you choose the Biltmore Estate as your wedding location?
We were actually recommended the Biltmore in Asheville as a great vacation location. As we started planning a trip there we realized it was such a romantic and accessible location for a destination wedding.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
For both of us seeing each other for the first time during our “first look” was one of our favorite moments. We were both also extremely excited for all of our family and friends to be in the same place celebrating with us.
What you do you love about each other?
Amber: What I love about Terris is…
There are so many things I love about Terris, but if I had to narrow it down to a few it would have to be his compassion, sensitivity, and hunger for life. Terris is one of the most compassionate people I have ever known. He has a big heart and is always ready and willing to help others. He is strong yet sensitive, and his hunger for life pushes me to step out of my comfort zone and experience new things. These are just a few of the things I love about Terris.
Terris: What I love about Amber is…
Amber is one of the strongest people I know. Behind her tender, beautiful exterior lies a determined woman who goes into hard situations without fear. Always willing to battle but never lets go of her classy sophisticated demeanor. Amber is a self-proclaimed nerd. I love that she is smarter than I am, and has a constant hunger for knowledge. Her kind, loving spirit is contagious. I am a better man because she is in my life.
Anything else you would want people to know?
I want people to know how wonderful Tara Jordan is. She helped us make our wedding magical, and unforgettable. Planning a wedding multiple states away should have been extremely stressful, but Tara made it enjoyable. She also introduced me to the DREAM TEAM of wedding vendors in Asheville; Blush by Wendy Balance (Makeup), Blossoms at Biltmore Park (Flowers/Décor), Mozingo Photography. I would recommend this location to anyone. The level of creativity and professionalism in Asheville wedding market is stellar.
Where did you honeymoon?
We honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was a beautiful sunny and tropical location to go to during the middle of February.
