Bonnie and Ryan will be getting married this spring at the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards. They met in Junior High when Ryan was the new kid in 7th grade, and now they have been dating for 9 years! Learn a little more about them…
When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
Ryan proposed on May 11th, 2013. It was a Friday and I had just gotten off work. We were leaving for a week of vacation in the Cayman Islands with friends early the next morning so he suggested taking our pup, Ridgely, for a walk around the park before we had to part with him. Once we got to the park, I threw the ball for Ridgely and when I turned around Ryan was on one knee. I was completely surprised. He had planned a wonderful night. A limo pulled up to the park and we immediately drove to my parent’s house to celebrate. My parents knew and so did his dad but it was a surprise for his mom. After popping champagne, we met up with a couple friends who were so excited for us and enjoyed a wonderful evening together. It was perfect!
What do you two do for a living?
Ryan works in Investment Banking. Bonnie has worked in advertising for the past 5 ½ years and is currently job searching in Charlotte.
What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
Whenever we have the time, we love to cook together. We like to stay healthy and active and enjoy exercising. Also, we are both big travelers and love to get-away and explore new places.
Why did you choose the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards as your wedding location?
It’s a special place for us. My (Bonnie’s) parents built a house within the development back when I was in high school, but it wasn’t until we were both out of school that we started frequently spending weekends there. It’s such a beautiful place and we both love being near water and close to the mountains. Ryan is a BIG golfer so the amazing golf course is a big attraction for him! It’s been our place of relaxation and fun with friends and family for many years now.
When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
We are so excited to celebrate with all of our close friends and family. Both of us are the oldest in our families, which makes it extra special for everyone. Having everyone together in one of our favorite places for one weekend will be amazing. Oh, and of course, the honeymoon!
What do you love about each other?
Bonnie: What I love about Ryan is…everything but if I had to be specific, his confidence, undying love for his family, extreme sociability and overwhelming thoughtfulness.
Ryan: What I love about Bonnie is…her willingness to take a chance on me! Most of all her genuine and positive way she carries herself and selfless love for her friends and family.
