So looking forward to Jenny and Andrew’s wedding at the Grove Park Inn! What a sweet couple they make, and they are completely amazing to work with. One thing I loved finding out about Andrew was that he is a sweet potato farmer! How fun is that? I thank him every time I eat sweet potato fries (one of my favs). 🙂 Keep on reading to find out more about them…
How did you meet each other?
Both Andrew and I had pretty busy schedules. He was working a lot with the family business and I was in residency. Needless to say, not much time to get out and mingle. With a little initial reluctance, we both tried Match.com which is where we met each other. Andrew was so sweet and handsome. I loved his southern accent. I guess we should be on their commercial. On our first date, Andrew took me to a very fancy restaurant called An. He dropped the big bucks haha. I remember he had such good manners. We had a great dinner and conversation. No one good kidnapped or murdered.
How long have you two been together?
Almost three years
When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
We got engaged December 23rd, 2013 on my 30th birthday. He took me on a vacation to Charleston where we stayed in a nice hotel by the water. Honestly, I found the diamonds direct website up on his computer several months prior to our trip. He had mentioned he was looking for a necklace for me. On my 30th birthday, he surprised me with a beautiful diamond necklace. I thought this was the only surprise for the weekend. Andrew and I went out walking around Charleston to see the sights. Some rain clouds started coming in, so we headed back to the hotel. The maid was cleaning the room, so he asked if I wanted to go upstairs to the rooftop deck while we waited for our room to be ready.
We admired the view of the water and then sat together in a cozy love seat. The clouds got more ominous and it started to sprinkle. I got up to go inside but he grabbed my hand and had me sit back down. I thought this was a little odd. Why did he want to sit out in the rain?? He got on one knee and pulled a ring from his pocket. He said I was his best friend and that he wanted to spend his life with me. I am pretty sure I had a dumb founded look on my face but eventually I think I said yes.
What do you two do for a living?
Andrew works for the family farming business. They wholesale sweet potatoes throughout the country.
Jenny is an internal medicine doctor.
What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
We enjoy cooking together, going to the movies, traveling, playing with the dog, going to sporting events, comedy shows, date nights to great restaurants and bars in Raleigh.
Why did you choose the Grove Park Inn as your wedding location?
As a native Floridian, I was in awe of the mountains and the gorgeous view at the Grove Park. I always wanted an outdoor wedding and once I walked out on to that terrace, I knew that was where it was going to be.
When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
Jenny: I am looking forward to seeing him at the end of the isle when I am walking down. A little bit hoping he has a nervous yet excited look on his face. I am excited to have so many of my friends and family be a part of our special day.
And well of course, a good party.
Andrew: Having the best weekend of my life with the one person I could never live without and getting to enjoy it with our families and friends.
What do you love about each other?
Jenny: What I love about Andrew is how caring he is. He has such a good heart and is the sweetest, most wonderful person I know. For instance, once I had to drive to work in a snow storm. This was the equivalent of the apocalypse so North Carolina. Before I got in my car to start the 3 hour journey 20 miles to work, he handed me a bag he packed that included a blanket, snacks, water and little candies. My heart melted. He is always thinking of me. I love that he makes corny jokes that make me smile. I love that he provides me with endless cuddles, especially after a stressful day at work.
Andrew: What I love about Jenny is the way she makes me feel. I can always look into her eyes and instantly all is right in the world. And I can say without a doubt that I love everything about her. Her kindness, humor, attitude, intelligence, and caring stands out the most to me. And this is on top of her being beautiful!
