Love this couple! Completely stoked to see them share their wedding vows soon, and I am so blessed to be a part! Jennie and Andy have had new jobs to deal with, finding a home, relocating to a different city, and planning a wedding all within the last several months. It has been a whirlwind for them, so I know they are super excited to settle down and enjoy their wedding weekend. The ceremony and reception will take place at the Crest Pavilion located in Asheville, NC. Read more about this very special couple…
How did you meet each other?
We both worked for the same company. Andy was recently promoted & moved to Charlotte, NC & had to give a presentation at a meeting in Florence, SC. I sat next to him during the meeting but we didn’t actually talk until 2 months later at another company meeting in Florida. I went over to his place later that night (which happened to be in the same building that my friend lived in & I was staying for the weekend) and we talked (yes only talked) until the sun came up – my girlfriend thought I had been kidnapped!! Ha ha
How long have you two been together?
6 years this past March
When did you get engaged, and how did he ask?
November 23 2013 at the presidential suite at the Westin in Charlotte NC. I was taking a bubble bath around 7am and I heard him rustling around for something in the bedroom and thought it was odd because he’s never up earlier than me on weekends. Then he stood in front of the tub for a second and dropped down on both (not one but both) knees and asked me to marry him – I don’t remember the exact “proposal” because I’m pretty sure half of it wasn’t coherent but it ended with “ I just really love you and will you marry me” he said the original plan was to propose to me at the park after a morning jog but he got nervous and popped the question early.
What do you two do for a living?
Andy works for Redbull & I am a group fitness instructor / personal trainer
What are some of the activities that you like to do together as a couple?
Andy says “put some things in there that make us sound interesting like “bouldering”” ☺ we love to travel, random road trips, explore new cities & with his job we have moved from Charlotte, to NYC & most recently to Chicago in the past 2 years, we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to live in some great cities! We like to shop and cook together which is a plus for me ☺ Andy graduated from Florida & I graduated from UNC Chapel hill so college sports equate to some major quality time together ☺
Why did you choose the Crest Pavilion as your wedding location?
Our first overnight getaway as a couple was in Asheville & we fell in love with Asheville (& maybe even each other ☺) that weekend! We wanted to be close to town but also wanted some amazing mountain views for the ceremony and the pavilion was the only place we found that offered both! & the gazillion lights streaming from the ceiling was just a bonus ☺
When you think about your wedding, what are you most excited about?
All our family being together. Jennie has 8 siblings and two live out of the country so this is the first time in over 10 years that everyone has been together & that’s pretty amazing to us! Also, the first look! I can’t wait for Andy to see me in my dress ☺ & of course making it official after 6 years.
What do you love about each other?
Jennie: What I love about Andy is… he is the most patient, considerate, & positive person I have ever met. Anytime life gets hectic or things seem overwhelming he is there in a second to make sure I know the load is carried equally. I love how motivated and dedicated he is with anything he does he’s always available to people who need him and treats everyone with the same amount of respect – & lastly I love how much faith he has in me, there is nothing he thinks I can’t do and is my biggest cheerleader
Andy: What I love about Jennie is her passion, excitement and willingness to take on challenges. I love how supportive she is of me and she is always willing to help or just listen when things aren’t going perfectly. She is also a very loving and giving person and is especially willing to help her family and friends with whatever they may need. I just really love her!
Anything else you want people to know?
Planning a wedding is so much more fun when you are changing jobs, moving states, buying a house, & living in corporate housing with your stuff in storage & living apart for 4 months, but apparently totally doable! but we highly recommend hiring an amazing wedding planner ☺ – thanks tara!! Awe shucks…thanks guys!
